Pushing Pixels Beyond Static

Motion is more than just movement—it's a visual language that transforms design into dynamic storytelling. In my motion experiments, I explore the intersection of typography, branding, and digital interaction, crafting motion pieces that engage, inform, and leave a lasting impression.

Concept + Exploration

This section is dedicated to my ongoing experiments in motion design, where I push the limits of form, rhythm, and animation principles. From kinetic typography to abstract visual storytelling, each piece is an exploration of how motion enhances meaning.

I use this space to test ideas, refine techniques, and develop visually compelling narratives that elevate branding, UX, and digital experiences.

Tools + Techniques

Each experiment is built using a mix of After Effects, Cinema 4D, Blender, and CSS animation, leveraging industry-standard tools to explore:

  • Kinetic Typography – Bringing words to life through motion.
  • Logo & Branding Animation – Creating visual identities that move with impact.
  • Experimental 3D & Depth Effects – Blurring the line between digital and physical.
  • Looping Motion Studies – Designing hypnotic, seamless animations built for engagement.

Designing for a Digital World

My motion experiments aren’t just about aesthetics—they’re designed with platforms and engagement in mind. From loopable Instagram Reels to scroll-triggered website animations, motion creates a more immersive and interactive digital experience.

This section is a living archive of work-in-progress ideas, where I refine techniques, play with different motion styles, and craft animations that inspire.

Projection Mapping Kaleidoscope Project

I built a kaleidoscopic animation in After Effects that was purchased by the Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens in Lethbridge for their projection dome. For this project, I wanted to do something with a kaleidoscope, since I thought it would be cool projected onto a projection dome. I used a flume song, and made use of repeaters and effect control modifiers to achieve my desired look. I decided to go for a mostly black background, since I thought it would likely look best when projected with multiple projectors. This ended up being purchased by the Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens in Lethbridge for their regular content in their projection dome. It was also featured on Global News, Lethbridge.

Fortune 500

This interactive poster explores the fusion of web design and motion, turning static layouts into dynamic, engaging experiences. Inspired by the bold visual language of corporate branding, this experiment brings typography, composition, and animation together to create a fluid, responsive design. It’s a study in how motion enhances user engagement and storytelling in digital spaces.

ShaderToy Shader Experiments

This interactive shader study explores procedural graphics, motion, and color in real-time. Using GLSL, this experiment plays with mathematical functions, gradients, and distortions to create an evolving, hypnotic visual experience. A dive into the intersection of code and design, this piece showcases how shaders can push the boundaries of motion graphics and generative art.
